Another very short interview
given to GMTV to advertise the 2005 tour

Presenters today - Eamon Holmes and Fiona Philips
Interviewer - Jackie Brambles

EH - We've got two musical greats today,    Neil Diamond........
FP- I got stuck in a lift once with him in New York but I'll tell you about that later.
EH - Poor Neil!

EH - This is ridiculous because I have just been and bought four tickets for his concert
and we are blooming well giving them away today. I believe charity begins at home, I should have come to me first.
FP - Well ....Jackie Brambles has been talking to Neil Diamond ......
EH - What happened in the lift?
FP - .......as he prepares for his UK tour.
EH - ...what happened in the lift when you were stuck with Neil ?
FP - He had just split up with his wife at the time as well ..
EH - Was he tempted?
FP - ..and I was young, free and single at the time.  And he wasn't even tempted.
EH - And you said "Neil keep your hair on." Anyway here's Jackie Brambles..

Intro footage from the Stages DVD

JB Are you in rehearsals at the moment? Tell us where you are in that process.

ND - No, we have rehearsed. Hopefully we should know what we are doing at this point.
JB - You are playing Woburn Abbey again after twenty eight years which is great news for a couple of GMTV viewers,  right?

ND - Yes, I understand we are giving away two tickets, front row tickets, for the Woburn Abbey show and I think maybe that people have to log on to GM.TV on the website and check the information plus the other dates that we are playing. But that's exciting and I want to get the chance to say Hi to those folks before the show, backstage, and it'll be fun.

JB - When you are not singing, when you are sort of away form the music, are you a much more private, reserved person than when you are a performer?
ND - Yes much more. I am a pretty quiet guy. I'm kinda shy. It's nice to talk to you and to meet people, which I do all the time but basically I'm a shy person.

ND - I think the secret to my success is that I love, LOVE, LOVE what I am doing.

End of interview - video more footage

Back to studio

EH - Great shirt, isn't it?

FP - Yes and do you know the secret of how he keeps his shirt just so? It must be difficult deciding whether to be  in or out or how it's tucked. Well you know "bodies". You know women wear bodies where it all does up underneath, little poppers underneath, a bit like a babygro.
EH - I take your word for it.
FP - He wears shirts with poppers underneath.
EH - How do you know that? How are you privileged to know that?
FP - It's a trade secret...... when I was in that lift with him.....(laughs)

EH - What a voice though - the man is a legend and there are very few of them about now. so there we go. Neil mentioned there that you could win the chance to be at one of his gigs in the UK. Details of how, all the tour dates on the website, GM.TV, that's where it happens.
FP - And if you go in London you might bump into Eamon as well. Bargain!
