Neil is asked if he minds being called a legend. He says he doesn't - it's not a bad name to be called.

They go on to comment on Neil Diamond being his real name. They mention the story of Eice and Noah being considered as possible stage names. Neil says he thought them up in a coffee shop.

They speak about cover versions of his songs and ask who he would like to hear recording one of his songs. Neil replies U2.
"Us?" says Ben. Jenni adds  "We could do Sweet Caroline!"
Not quite the U2 he had in mind!

Then it was on to question time - Neil had to say which of the choices he preferred....... "Jump-suit or jeans?" -Jeans

"Sideburns or shape?" - he'd had the sideburns for years but now they are gone.

et20.jpg (38016 bytes) et15.jpg (41495 bytes)
"Glitter or Gold?" - Glitter as you had to be seen on stage

"Cowboy boots or sneakers?" - definitely cowboy boots.

"Britney or Blondie?" - "Who? " asks Neil with a puzzled look before settling for Blondie.

"Big band or ballads?" - Likes BOTH equally.

Now a surprise for Neil. Ben presents Neil  with a gold record for selling 100,000 copies of The Essential Neil Diamond.
Neil was then given a chance to publicise his tour - he rattled off Glasgow, Newcastle, Birmingham, Sheffield, Manchester .. and then after much deliberation remembered NOTTINGHAM and then said the tour finished in London.
Now it was time for Neil to sing.
He chose a ballad - You Are The Best Part of Me.

et35.jpg (59831 bytes) You Are The Best Part Of Me

My baby's cryin' on a Saturday night
She thinks that nothin's ever
Gonna go right
But she'll make it
And we'll make it
There's no way that
I'm leavin' the best part of me

There was a time
I wanted out on my own
I even thought I'd be okay alone
But oh, baby
I know, baby
That I'd be walkin'
Away from the best part of me

You are the best part of me
The best that I am or ever will be
You baby,
You're the part that allows me
To open my heart
And let love inside
I want you to know
What I've always known
You're the best part of me

Love isn't easy
And it's not always kind
Sometimes you only have to
Make up your mind
That you can make it
And you can make it
I know I made it
By keeping the best part of me

You are the best part of me
The best that I am or ever will be
You baby,
You're the part that allows me
To open my heart
And let love inside
I want you to know
What I've always known
You're the best part of me

My baby's cryin'
'Cause she can't run away
And if she could,
It wouldn't last for a day
And she knows it and I know it
It just shows that
She is the best part of me

It's true baby,
You're the best part of me
The best that I am or ever will be
You baby,
You're the part that allows me
To open my heart
And let love inside
I want you to know
What I've always known
You're the best part of me
Yes, you are the best part of me
