NEIL APPEARS ON THE EARLY MORNING SHOW ON GMTV
|

The camera catches Neil as he is trying out the stool and
preparing for his spot on the show. Neil commented that he was just trying to keep his eyes open. |
| After the news the interview begins with Kate Garraway and Andrew Castle. | A news item has been about Britney Spears ignoring her fans after they had stood in the pouring rain for two hours waiting to see her. |

| Neil is asked if he would do that to his fans. He says he would! Anything to keep his hair dry. A star has to look perfect at all times and Britney knows that! That is the first lesson of stardom - forget about talent - just look good! | Kate asks if she can sense a degree of sarcasm there! |

| Neil went on to blame TV, cable and satellite for making the visual image so important. | Kate then went on to ask about celebrity. Neil said it was nice to hear stories from people and how much impact it had on their lives. |

| A fan in Aberdeen asked if Neil ever had an off night (and if he did please don't make it the 11th July when she was going to see him in Glasgow!) | He replied he still always had a buzz when performing though obviously some nights you might not feel quite so well physically. (he guaranteed all would be well on the 11th - I'll remember to look out for that one!) |

| Andrew said no doubt he would feel different when he put on his
"uniform" like this - and pulled out a Neil concert shirt. Neil described the
shirt as being one he had had made for a New Year's Eve performance in Las Vegas. "If you can't wear pink in Las Vegas you can't wear it anywhere." |
Neil donated the shirt to the annual fundraising for charity that GMTV was to be running the next week. It was to be auctioned and Neil hoped that whoever got it would pay a lot of money for it - because HE had! |

| Kate asked if he enjoyed performing in this country. He did and told a story of the last time he had been in this country. He told how they travelled between cities by train last time. On one occasion the train stopped and they looked out the window to wave at some "nice English people". | The folk had come out of their house and waved back to them. Eventually the train started up again and began to pull out. The pair they had been waving to turned towards their house but then suddenly dropped their pants and mooned them. |

| Neil said this was odd because it was them who usually did it to people first. He thought it was a beautiful moment telling them so much of the British mind - twisted yet beautiful! | |

| After the break Andrew introduced Neil - dressed in the Vegas shirt. | Neil remarked that his career was over and Andrew's was about to
begin - and he liked the TIE with it! |

Then it was into ..... SWEET CAROLINE
Where it began, I can't begin to knowin' But then I know it's growing strong Was in the spring And spring became the summer Who'd have believed you'd come along. Hands, touchin' hands Reachin' out, touchin' me touchin' you Sweet Caroline Good times never seemed so good I've been inclined To believe they never would But now I, look at the night And it don't seem so lonely We fill it up with only two. And when I hurt, Hurtin' runs off my shoulders How can I hurt when I'm with you Warm, touchin' warm Reachin' out, touchin' me touchin' you Sweet Caroline Good times never seemed so good I've been inclined, To believe they never would Oh, no, no Sweet Caroline Good times never seemed so good Sweet Caroline, I believe they never could Sweet Caroline......... |
